Data Source update frequency

I had a question about using the green button data, and since I am not familiar with any of the participating utilities, I was wondering if someone could help me out....

Say a user downloads his/her Green Button usage from a utility. How long would he/she have to wait until newer data becomes available? In essence, what is the update frequency of the data? Is this something standardized across utilities?

Thanks,
Anil

Yes, a daily update is standard across utilities. So, usage data through the 25th would be available on the 26th, and so forth.

Is it possible to get the data almost real time? For example, data for 10:00 AM (15-minute kwh) should be available max. 10 seconds past the 15-minute interval.
Also, will participating utility offer API to get the XML file to a remote App?

    Jairam,
No, the Green Button standard only specifies that data updates be available every 24 hours.
As for an API, some utilities are planning to make their data available via an API later this year, but the currently live Green Button tools all require the user to download the data. If your app works best with API access to the data, Tendril offers Green Button connect, which makes uploaded Green Button data available as a service.
    Thanks!
